Subject: Your Film Has Arrived!

Dear DriverXers,

This is it! The time has come! I am absolutely ecstatic to tell you that DriverX is World Premiering October 11th at the Tacoma Film Festival! And that's not all...we'll be playing festivals in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Orlando, St. Louis, and Fort Worth, all back-to-back in October/November.

We're feverishly finishing the film right now, as I mentioned in my last update, and can't wait to show audiences what we've been cooking up all this time. No one, not even Henry and I, and certainly not any of the festivals who accepted the film, has seen the result of all the work we've put into the film these past few months. All the sound work, the terrific music we've added, the visual effects work (no more green phones screens!) and the work to make the picture look amazing.

If you know anyone in the Seattle/Tacoma area, please get them to the show! Patrick will be there along with Henry and I and hopefully our fabulous DP Daniel Lynn. It's going to be a great night.

Patrick and I plan on attending all of the other festivals, so if you're nearby, come on down! I don't have all the details for all the screenings yet, but here's a rough idea of when and where the film will be playing in the next couple of months...

World Premiere
TACOMA FILM FESTIVAL                Oct. 11             Tacoma, WA

ORLANDO FILM FESTIVAL             Oct. 21 & 26     Orlando, FL

TWIN CITIES FILM FESTIVAL          Oct. 27             Minneapolis/St Paul, MN

ST LOUIS INT'L FILM FESTIVAL     Nov 5               St. Louis, MO

LONE STAR FILM FESTIVAL           Nov 10             Fort Worth, TX

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Everything starts now. We've been laying low this past year finishing the film, but now we are hitting that critical stage where we introduce the film to the world and hope we can rise above all the noise. We'll be competing with all the other films out there, Peak TV and just the news in general. It's super important that we hit the ground running and build momentum from here.

At each festival we'll be trying to expand awareness for the film, both with social media and with traditional press, and we'll also be learning from the audiences who attend. How do they react to the film? Who likes and who loves the film and why? Does the film speak to a particular audience and what does it say, (and is it saying what we think it's saying)? This is vital information to help us market and sell the film going forward.

These are the first of hopefully many festivals we'll be playing over the next several months. The festival season dies down during the holidays and then picks up again in the Spring, and so we expect to be playing a number of Spring fests as well.

Ultimately, we're hoping the attention and response we get will attract a distributor who will come on board and help us reach the widest possible audience.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

First, we hope you can see the film on the big screen at one of these presentations. Festivals are a great way to enjoy a film, with enthusiastic audiences and Q&A's after the screenings. The goal of the next several months is to build momentum for the film. Here's how you can help:
  • Tell your friends in the various cities we play to go see the film. Tell them you worked on the film, or donated to it, or that you're buddies with Howard Hamlin of Better Call Saul,  and that he will personally autograph a postcard of himself wearing his Hamlindigo Blue Members Only jacket!
  • Talk up the film on social media. These festival screenings present numerous opportunities to reach potential audiences on social media. In order to do that, we'll need your help to provide social echo. In the coming weeks, we'll start posting fun stuff about the film and the screenings. Help us amplify those messages by sharing, liking, re-tweeting, commenting, etc.  All that goes a long way toward creating critical mass.
