Public Comment Period Open for Technologies Subject to City’s Surveillance Ordinance: The City of Seattle has published the first draft of Surveillance Impact Reports (SIRs) for six of the 29 currently existing surveillance technologies. Attend one of the public meetings and share your input by November 5. (more)

Take the 2018 Seattle Public Safety Survey: Seattle University is administering the 4th annual citywide Seattle Public Safety Survey. The purpose of the survey is to solicit feedback on public safety and security concerns from those who live and/or work in Seattle. A report on the survey results will be provided to the Seattle Police Department. (more)

New Commissioners Sought for the Seattle Design Commission: The open positions are licensed architect, transportation planner, and landscape architect. Commission members receive an hourly rate as compensation for their service. Apply by November 30. (more)

West Seattle and Ballard Link Extensions Update: Sound Transit's West Seattle and Ballard Link Extensions Project Elected Leadership Group made recommendations on which alternatives, or route and station options, will move forward to Level 3 screening. (more)

Apply for the Neighborhood Street Fund: Residents, businesses, community groups, and non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply for transported-related improvements in your neighborhood! Application deadline is November 19. (more)

Attend Equitable Development Convening on November 14: The City of Seattle is convening this event to discuss anti-displacement strategies that bridge the historic gap between investments and community needs and ownership. (more)

Volunteer for Green Seattle Day on November 3: Hundreds of volunteers will plant thousands of plants in parks throughout the Emerald City, and all community members are welcome to participate. (more)

SOUTH SEATTLE (neighborhoods south of I-90)
Seattle Police Department and West Seattle Junction Association Partner to Launch City’s First Anti-Crime Business Block Watch Program: The new commercial Block Watch will give members the ability to electronically communicate with one another if they see suspicious activity in the Junction and allow businesses to discuss recent crime trends, suspicious behavior or concerning individuals. Greening Concord Elementary School: The final designs include a pollinator garden, funded by King Conservation District, and an updated front entryway, funded by the Duwamish Opportunity Fund and other foundations. (more)

Participate in the Design of New Park in Little Saigon Neighborhood: Seattle Parks and Recreation is partnering with the Little Saigon community to host an opportunity to gather input on designs for the new park on Thursday, November 1. (more)

Volunteer Park Water Tower Repairs: Seattle Public Utilities will be upgrading the drainage systems, stormwater grates and piping system associated with the Volunteer Park water tower. Work is anticipated to start as early as November 5. (more)

Mayor Durkan Marks Opening of New Affordable Housing Units in Lake City: The former site of Fire Station 39 is now a revitalized apartment building for low-income individuals and families. (more)

12th Ave NW Basin Drainage Improvement Project: This project will improve the drainage system in parts of west Broadview with severe flooding issues. Attend a walking tour with Seattle Public Utilities on November 3. (more)
