| [Alert] How To Have Power After Hurricane Florence (or during any blackout) |
| | Friend, Hurricane Florence is coming...
Life-threatening storm surge and rainfall are expected in the Carolinas and Mid-Atlantic.
Me, my wife and three children live right outside of Charleston, South Carolina so we’re preparing for the storm (and we encourage you to do the same if you live in a potentially affected area)...
Here are a few things we’re doing (that you may want to also consider doing to prepare):
1) We have our emergency kit ready
2) We have our household evacuation plan in place (including for our dog)
3) We are constantly monitoring the weather
4) We have our generator ready, which will give us nearly endless energy until the power comes back on. Our generator also ensures we can power our freezer, slow cooker, enough lights for our safety and comfort, our cell phones, computers, and a few critical home medical devices.
5) We have a full tank of gas in our car.
6) And we have our backup food and water supply ready.
The hurricane is expected to make landfall on Thursday night or Friday morning so please prepare now if you haven’t yet.
If you’re not in an affected area, this may be a great time to review your family's emergency preparedness plan so you're ready for future power outages or emergencies. It's also a great time to brush up on your battery reconditioning skills (which will be very valuable in a power outage situation).
