| Divine Mercy Holy Hour for Our Nations Starts Soon Celebrating the Feast of the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Our Lady of Victory! | | | | The Feast of the Holy Rosary is celebrated on October 7, commemorating the miraculous victory of the Holy League over the Ottoman Empire at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. Vastly outnumbered, Pope Saint Pius V, who belonged to Saint Dominic's order, called on all his flock to ask Our Lady's help through the Rosary. The Holy League's decisive victory was attributed to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary through the Rosary. In thanksgiving, Pope Pius V established the Feast of Our Lady of Victory. It was Pope Pius V, who, in 1572, formalized the number and content of the Mysteries of the Rosary and also actively promoted its recitation. In 1573, Pope Gregory XIII changed the name of the feast to the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary. |
