Divine Mercy Holy Hour for Our Nations Starts Soon

Celebrating St. Maria Faustina and

Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos

Today we celebrate the lives of two remarkable souls: St. Maria Faustina Kowalska and Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos.

Blessed Francis Xavier was born in 1819 in Bavaria, Germany. While in the seminary, he felt called to set sail for the United States to care for German immigrants in America. He was well-loved and labored joyfully as a missionary in many states from the East Coast to the Midwest. In 1866, he went to New Orleans due to the influx of German immigrants there, and he cared tirelessly for those affected by yellow fever until he himself contracted the disease and died on October 4, 1867.

St. Maria Faustina was born in Poland in 1905 and died in 1938 at the young age of thirty-three on October 5, 1938. She is known as the Secretary and Apostle of Jesus the Divine Mercy, whose writings have sparked worldwide devotion to the mercy of God and living merciful lives in deed, word, and prayer. She is expected to be elevated to the rank of Doctor of the Church.

Jesus to St. Faustina:

Make a daily hour of adoration for nine days. During this adoration try to unite yourself in prayer with My Mother. Pray with all your heart in union with Mary . . .

I was to make this novena for the intention of my Motherland.
