March 9th is the Feast of St. Frances of Rome. Born into the nobility in Rome in 1384, during a time of war, plague, and political instability, she is known for her life of service to the sick and poor and for her visions of heaven, hell, purgatory, St. Francis, and more. The saint's constant companion was her Guardian Angel, who strengthened her to endure grief, loss, and exhaustion. As we conclude this month's novena and continue on our Lenten journey, facing the difficulties of this life, it is the perfect time to get to know this St. Frances and seek the intercession of her who said, "Heaven's presence does not remove suffering, but accompanies it." We are grateful to Kevin McCarthy for sharing more about her with us today before the holy hour. |
