It has been a blessing for us to be affiliated with the Marian Fathers based at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts for over 20 years. Father Kaz Chwalek was the first Marian to actually travel and participate in parish events with us.

Deed - Word - Prayer

 Father Kazimierz "Kaz" Chwalek was born in Poland. As a teenager, he came to live with his aunt in Washington, DC. Here, in 1969, as a 17-year-old at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, he first met the Cardinal that would become Pope John Paul II.


Father returned to Poland to attend college and graduate school where he became more acquainted with and inspired by the teachings of the Cardinal of Cracow, Karol Wojita. While he was there in 1978, the Cardinal he knew and admired became Pope John Paul II.


"Something happened to me on that day. The quiet longing to become a priest grew into a strong desire to follow Christ with John Paul as my model of priestly service."


 Experiencing Pope John Paul II's historic and exciting pilgrimage back to Poland in 1979 confirmed Father's longing to follow Christ. The following year he entered the Marian seminary. The rest is history!
