Reflection Questions

Formation Letter 7

Consecration to the Guardian Angel

Third Fundamental Direction: Expiation

1.     The Fundamental direction of expiation teaches us above all to make sacrifices out of love for God and neighbor. How does your making a sacrifice out of love for God or neighbor contribute toward the salvation of another? Give examples of sacrifices made out of love.

2.     From the very beginning, Jesus let his disciples participate in His life and suffering (Mark 1:16-20, 3:13-19). Christ’s redemptive suffering proves to us that our cross can be redemptive too. Our suffering has meaning and purpose. What effect does this knowledge have on my daily life?

3.     Real love is followed by compassion. When we truly love someone, it is easier to make sacrifices for them. The same is true in loving God. How can we make reparation for the outrages and indifferences by which God is offended? How can we offer compassion to God?

4.     The Little Flower says, “When I pick up a straw for love of God, He can use this to save a soul.” It all depends on the degree of our love. What does this mean to you? How does our degree of love increase?

5.     How does our Guardian Angel help us to make expiation?

6.     A very special intention of the Work of the Holy Angels is to pray and make sacrifices for priests because priests convey far greater graces than the angels through the authority of their sacramental priesthood. What is a new habit I will commit to making, or an older habit I am willing to renew, to pray and make sacrifices for priests?

7. It has been over 100 years since Our Lady’s appearances to the children of Fatima. Her message was to pray and make sacrifices for poor sinners. What can we do to answer her request?
