We don't know about you, but we're tired of hearing and seeing nothing much more than bad and sad news about lawlessness, hate, evil, corruption, fear, war, disease, the poisoning of our bodies, minds, and earth, and on and on transecening every nook and cranny of our lives, society, government, and even Church today.
The barrage has been overwhelming, and it probably will get worse before it gets better. Still, we're here to remind you of something much more important to think about and act upon, and that is St. Peter's words and the teaching and tradition of our Church that prove it: "Where sin abounds, grace abounds more!"
Make no mistake: the plot of the evil one is to have us live in fear and despondency, to feel that things are beyond our control, so that we wallow in distractions and lukewarmness. But thanks be to God, we who have FAITH know better. We who have FAITH see that we are in the end times, and that means the end of evil in the world.
An Analogy
When a pregnant WOMAN begins to have sharp pains, she knows that the birth of her child is near. The closer to delivery of this new life, the pains increase in frequency and intensity to the point of being just about unbearable. But there is no turning back now. A good husband coaches his wife that it will be over soon and that their precious child is about to enter the world. "Stay with it. Breath. Focus. You can do this". And then, tah dah, the child is born. The pains subside, and joy rushes in.
So here we are, your Mother of Mercy Messengers, to remind you that one way or another, there is new life ahead, if not in this world then in the next, and that is what we are supposed to be focused on and rejoice in. In doing so, we will all be able to make it through the pain, suffering, and confusion, and we will be able to help others through it as well.
Heaven has Spoken
Heaven has done more than warn us of these times. Heaven has coached us on how to live through them and without fear or anxiety, but in peace, with joy and hope.
In a little more than two weeks, we enter into Lent. This is our time to prepare ourselves for the Feast of Mercy, Divine Mercy Sunday - when "all the divine floodgates through which grace are opened." During our nine-day novena this month, we believe our guest speakers will offer valuable inspiration to prepare you for your Lenten journey, and our time together in prayer will be filled with grace. We hope you'll be able to join.
Journey with Us
But we don't stop there. Throughout the month, Mercy Sunday Momentum will begin, and we will offer more opportunities to join in prayer in a variety of ways. Learn more in our message below. Stay connected. Stay focused. Breath. Pray. You can do this. New life is ahead.
With our sincere thanks and daily prayers,
Dave and Joan Maroney
