Subject: In case you missed it - print your own 3D Red Sea wreck, Great Shark Snapshot results, Ghost Fishing UK pledge and more!

26 August 2022

Fancy owning your own detailed scale model of an iconic Red Sea wreck? Holger and Nicola Buss digitised all the wrecks they visited during a liveaboard trip and made the plans available free of charge for anybody with access to a 3D printer. Read about his efforts (and air consumption!) photographing, mapping and digitising all the wrecks, and learn how to make your own!

The inaugural Great Shark Snapshot has been a great success, with hundreds of divers recording hundreds of sharks and rays around the world for the Shark Trust's Shark Log database.

Ghost Fishing UK is seeking pledges to a fundraising campaign to ensure it can continue to remove abandoned, lost and discarded fishing gear from UK waters.

Last chance - win Ocean Film Festival tickets!

DIVE has two pairs of tickets to the UK leg of the Ocean Film Festival World Tour for two lucky readers to attend the showing of their choice - the competition closes on 31 August so if you haven't entered yet, now is the time to do so...

Seaweed is an extraordinarily versatile form of algae - an extremely important part of the ocean environment, and a very sustainable crop for use in everything from burgers to beer, as one Welsh seaweed farm is working to discover.

A Reef-World Foundation survey has found that divers are increasingly seeking out operators with a provable track record of sustainable marine tourism - and many are willing to pay extra to help preserve the environment they dive in.
