Summer 2026 magazine preview

UNDERWATER MAGIC

Czech photographer Michal Štros hails from a scientific background and he's brought that with him into his creative underwater photography. We feature a review and extract from his fantastic new book, Underwater Magic.

FINDING FABI

Fabi Fregonesi is a Brazilian underwater photographer who, for much of her teenage years was afraid of the ocean. Mark 'Crowley' Russell talked to her about how she overcame her fear of the water and why she left behind the corporate world to focus on the underwater one.

MASTERING LEMBEH MACRO

Nur Tucker is chair of the British Society of Underwater Photographers and has spent much of the last decade perfecting her macro photography, with a particular focus on Lembeh. In our cover feature, Nur highlights the techniques she's developed to create the perfect shot, and why she sometimes feels like an eight-armed juggler.

More than 300 ships have sunk around Bermuda since it was first discovered in the early 16th century. Lifelong X-Files fan Jenny Stock heads off in search of mystery, but finds the most likely causes rather mundane, and the diving really spectacular. Komodo National Park sits between two oceans, which have a sumo-esque contest every day, driving vast amounts of water through some very narrow channels. Mark Hatter boards the Komodo Aggressor to enjoy the raw poer and spectacular diving.
