Subject: Welcome to the Mind Matters Community

A welcome letter from Carolyn

Hello,

Welcome to the Mind Matters community! I'm so glad you've decided to bring Mind Matters to the people you serve, whether that's in a classroom, a youth program, a clinic, a residential setting, a correctional facility, a community group, or somewhere else entirely.

When I developed this curriculum, my hope was to give people real tools for facing adversity and building resilience, not just information, but skills they could actually use in their everyday lives. Now you're part of a growing community of teachers, counselors, facilitators, case managers, and other caring professionals doing exactly that work every day, with people of all ages, backgrounds, and life experiences. I want you to know that support doesn't end once you've got the materials in hand. We're here for you every step of the way. We are invested in your success.

Join Our Monthly Webinars

One of the best ways to stay connected is through Dibble's Second Wednesday monthly webinars. The Dibble Institute offers a free webinar on a variety of topics related to Mind Matters as well as healthy relationships for youth, teens, and young adults. Everyone is welcome, and we'd love to see you there.

Mind Matters Now, Mind Matters Minutes, and Case Studies

To support your facilitation skills, you can also watch Mind Matters Now, our recorded training series. Dixie Hirschi and I taught Mind Matters: Overcoming Adversity and Building Resilience live online, with roughly 250 people joining us each week, and the full recording is still available whenever you need it. Continuing Education Units are available.

You'll find more resources to enrich your instruction in Mind Matters Minutes. Each one includes a brief introduction, a guided practice led by an experienced Dibble Trainer, and questions to engage your participants. Practices include Focused Breathing, 5-4-3-2-1, Calming Corners, Body Scan (Short and Full versions), 3-Part Breath, Emotion & Thought Breath, Loving Kindness, and the Reboot Sigh. Each is less than 10 minutes and can easily be adapted to fit your group and setting.

Our Case Studies share how others have brought Mind Matters to life with the people they serve. Check to see if your population is listed here. If not, write your own and send it to us!

Want Training for Your Team?

If you have questions, need extra support, or would like to arrange training for your staff, don't hesitate to reach out. We're always happy to work with you.

The Future of Mind Matters

Mind Matters is always a work in progress. The field is constantly changing, and more people are using the curriculum with a wider range of populations and in more settings than ever before. Please let us know what you learn: what is working, what is not, and what adaptations have helped your participants. Your experience matters, and we need to hear from you to continue making Mind Matters the most effective psychoeducational program available to help people overcome difficult experiences and cope with stress.

I'm so grateful you're part of this work. Thank you for everything you do for the people in your care.

May you be peaceful and happy,

Carolyn
