Sri Adi Shankaracharya's birthday is celebrated as Shankara Jayanthi. Sri Adi Shankaracharya is considered an incarnation of Lord Shiva and the greatest Guru (Jagad Guru). He purified Vedic knowledge by teaching discernment and instituted the worship of deities as worshipping different forms of the one God.
