Taking Out the Guesswork:
A Guide to Using Research to Build Arts Audiences

Presented By

Lucas Held, Director of Communications, The Wallace Foundation
Bob Harlow, President, Bob Harlow Research & Consulting

Cultivating new audiences and strengthening bonds with current attendees is a top priority for most arts organizations. Even though audience research can help achieve those goals, many arts organizations shy away from it, often citing lack of money, time or skills to carry out the endeavor. Taking Out the Guesswork: A Guide to Using Research to Build Arts Audiences, based on the experiences of arts organizations that took part in a Wallace Foundation audience-building initiative, seeks to help arts organizations get over the hurdles. This will be a presentation of key details with time for Q&A.

Note: Some feedback about the early draft of this guide was gathered at our April 2014 Marketing Roundtable, and was used to help refine and present the material in the final, published guide.

NOTE: Attendees will be provided a free copy of the publication
