WESTPORT

The Progressive Gallery Tour, a program of the Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County, was designed to bring our artist, cultural nonprofit, and creative business members together once a month to discover the richness and variety of our commercial gallery members. Each month we visit a different town - from Greenwich to Shelton.

For our Westport visit, we will start at 5:30pm at Wendy Nylen/Picture This 772 Post Road East., with Flora, a show of the paintings of Bridgeport-based Ann Evans de Bernard. “Whether painting floral still lifes at home in Bridgeport or tropical flora in her home in the Caribbean, Ann brings her love of paint texture and color to her subject matter. These large vibrant canvases burst with happy energy." Wendy will speak about her gallery and introduce Ann de Bernard at 6pm.

At 6:30pm, we will then drive up to Amy Simon Fine Art, 1869 Post Road East for an artists' reception for In Your Dreams! Geoffrey Detrani + Eric Jianju  Geoffrey Detrani works in New Haven and Jiaju Lee’s studio is in Greenwich.

Geoffrey Detrani creates large scale detailed drawings that explore the relationship between the natural world and the built environment. His work is in numerous collections including those of  The Museum of Modern Art (NY), The Brooklyn Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Baltimore Contemporary Art Museum, among others. Eric Jiaju Lee’s work is a combination of Modernist abstraction and traditional Chinese painting, employing a technique that involves pouring and dripping paint onto raw canvas. He applies Chinese philosophical principles to inform the composition, especially with regards to the interplay of positive and negative space. Amy Simon will introduce her gallery and the artists at 7pm.
We look forward to seeing you there!
