ADVOCACY ALERT
February 6, 2016
APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE
PUBLIC HEARING SCHEDULE ON GOVERNOR'S PROPOSED BUDGET
DECD Hearings Weds. Feb 10
The Appropriations Committee will hold state agency budget presentations and public hearings from Monday, February 8, 2016 through Friday, February 19, 2016.

The agency presentation on the Governor's Budget Policy Changes for the Department of Economic and Community Development (under which the Office of the Arts is situated) will take place 3pm-3:30pm on Wednesday, February 10, in Room 2C of the LOB. This will be one of five presentations that afternoon devoted to Conservation and Development. The Public Hearings for "Higher Education and Conservation and Development" will take place in Room 2C from 6:30pm onwards. The full schedule is available here.

Public speaker order for the public hearings will be determined by a lottery system. Lottery numbers will be drawn from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. in the LOB First Floor Atrium and from 10:15 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. in Room 2700. The list of speakers registered through the lottery system will be posted outside the designated hearing room two hours prior to the start of the public hearing.

If you are considering testifying, please submit 30 copies of written testimony at the time of sign-up, and no later than 2:00 P.M. Testimony received after the designated time may not be distributed until after the hearing. Please email written testimony in Word or PDF format to APPtestimony@cga.ct.gov. The Committee requests that testimony be limited to matters related to the items on the Agenda. The Committee encourages witnesses to condense oral testimony to a summary of their written statement. All public hearing testimony, written and spoken, is public information. As such, it will be made available on the CGA website and will be indexed by internet search engines. Unofficial sign-up sheets have no standing with the Committee.

Staff of the CT Community Nonprofit Alliance (CCNA, formerly the CT Community Providers Association and the CT Association of Nonprofits) (and perhaps the CT Arts Alliance) will provide template language to help guide your written testimony, which will be shared early next week. CCNA will also be available to sign up (via lottery) everyone willing to come to the LOB for the public hearings.

Please let us know if you are planning to submit testimony and attend the Appropriations Committee meeting next Wednesday. You can respond here.
