Today is Giving Tuesday!

We know you get many requests for help and support at this time of year.

The Dare2Draw was created to unite all cartoonists and to ultimately address how the industry treats creators and how it is continuing to mature and evolve, with the same fundamental problems for the artists. This requires more than good will and a fun time.

Creators need to stick together. The touchstone is to create a united voice and for creators to demand change.

The founder, Charles D. Chenet, created the D2D to establish a platform for creators to come together and do more that just draw or get free swag.

If you're an artist and you can't help with money, now, that's understandable. I know. Money is tight. Just trying to get work and pay bills is getting harder every day, especially now, the way things are going.

So for Giving Tuesday, tell me what is holding you back from reaching your calling and what pisses you off about the industry, so we can start the dialogue and figure out how to fix it, together.

We would like to hear from you. What are the most important things facing freelance cartoonists?

Do you need more...?
• Control over what you create
• More conventions
• Better representation
• More variant covers
• More Kickstarters
• Student loan forgiveness or better interest rates
• Places to hang out and talk with other cartoonists
• Real apprenticeship programs
• Affordable heath insurance
• Standardized and fair pay scales
• Fair regulations for companies that hire creators from other countries
• New industry standards
• Recognition to get more work
...Just a few things that come to mind.

All this could be achieved if we demand them and that can only happen if creators unite.

We will not stand for how the large interests take advantage of our creative drive and exploit the need to make a living in comics.

Let me know what confronts you as a creator and what you would like to see changed by replying to this email. Time to get it right.

We can do better.

Sincerely,
CD. Chenet
