Subject: Comic book creators getting a seat at the table in the entertainment industry

Robin Williams with Radio-Man and his use of soft power approach 📻

Robin Williams - In every movie he filmed he asked the production company to hire at least 10 homeless people. During his entire career, he helped approximately 1520 homeless.

During his entire career, Robin Williams used his influence (soft power) in “Hollywood” to help homeless folks earn a little extra income, as non-union background actors, and access to many kind people and resources too!

Dear D2D Creators and Friends,

Happy Holidays!

As 2024 ends and we look to 2025…

One thing is constant throughout history, that when folks work together they are stronger!

Comic book artists are seeking a seat at the table in the entertainment industry as creators. Would you like to use your soft power to help creators like Mr. Robin Williams did?

Established and new comic book creators, using our soft power for a small request, can have a meaningful impact in the long run for comic books, the medium we all love. Creators like YOU will be establishing a seat at the table in Hollywood, as we seek support to stay in our chosen field and leverage the revenue windfall of our medium in Hollywood.

WE the comic book creators seek that production companies producing any show or movie based on our IP will hire 3 to 5 CCR creators for non-union background work, in any of our comic book-based IP's (TV or Film).

The Creator Code Rider (CCR) –

The What?

A new or well-established creator with a very powerful IP would request a rider on their contract to develop their IP into a TV or movie property. The rider would state that 3 to 5 of the non-union background actors that would be hired on the production are certified self-identified comic book creators.

The Why?

Creating a pathway for comic book creators to work as non-union background actors, to participate in Hollywood's growing comic book IP market, would open a backdoor for comic book creators to be exposed to the entertainment industry for possible mentorship and entry into acting, stunt work, visual effects, lighting, sound, directing, etc.

The How?

How do you determine if someone is a certified comic book creator? A good question!

We would establish a protocol with a few simple steps overseen by our new comic-book-certifying committee.

1. Establishing a NEW Sequential Arts Creator Certifying Committee

  • By established & respected comic book community-driven organizations

2. Establishing a Creator self-identify process for CCR, with a few basic requirements

  • The CCR requirements TBD by the new certifying committee

Conclusion & Next Steps:

We’re standing on the shoulders of our industry's giants, such as Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby & Stan Lee, Will Eisner, Alex Toth, Bob Kane &  Bill Finger, Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, Joe Kubert, Ramona Fradon, and many more of our comic book professional ancestors.

Would you like to help? Help us take action by adding your name to this letter of intent for the creation of the Creator CODE RIDER or CCR.

By starting and circulating a letter of intent for support of development of future IP's that include this CCR to their development contracts, we will have created a path of evolution for the sequential arts to cinema, full stop.

A win / win for everybody!
