Why The Need To Know Him? Deepika Emmanuel Sagar
“He was in this world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognise him.” (John 1:10 NIV)
How would a parent feel if he went to his children and he was not recognised? It would be heart-breaking for him. Or how would one respond to a situation if he went to his own establishment and did not get recognised by his own employees? All employed by him but no one recognising him! The parent or the owner would be appalled, but would surely try to remove their ignorance.
This is what God did when he found people not able to relate to their relationship with Him. He came down as flesh to dwell amongst us, ‘The Word became flesh and made his dwelling amongst us’ (John 1:14a NIV). Why did he do so? Why would a parent want his children to know him, or an employer to reveal himself to his employees? It’s because they all share a relationship with each other. There is a bonding of love, care, respect, commitment, and sharing for each other. They are dependent on each other for many things and in many ways.
God wants us to know the dependency we have in him during our days in this life. The soul needs to know its Creator. We are understood by whom we share a relation. God understands us completely, but do we? It’s not the Giver who is at loss but the one who is not able to take in the ‘wealth’ of the Giver. Restore your relation with the Lord to its fullest so you can live the best life He has kept for you.
