But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:31 ESV
I remember back many years ago when two of my sons signed up to serve in the military. The older one gave nearly 10 years serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a fire control officer aboard a destroyer when he was sent to the Persian Gulf after ‘Desert Storm’ in 1991. On one occasion, I shared with him, “There’s more than putting on the uniform to be qualified to honor the name.”
We too, as we wear the name Christian are living our ‘New Life’ in Christ under the preeminence of Jesus. To live worthy of His name, Jesus indeed equips us for the task. We need not go beyond what God wants or expects of us. Our day-to-day experiences will test our faith as we complete our challenges — like my son who experienced a lot of training to ‘wear the name’ and bear his responsibilities with honor.
Our Lord will not allow us to be tested beyond what He knows we are capable of dealing with. In temptations, God will always show us the way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV).
I’ve been ever so blessed and thankful, learning to let Him lead.
