Today's Devotional
Fertile Fields of Love – by Sheldon Bass

“If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love.” John 15:10 NIV

In warm comfort of a good parent’s arms, a child is free to learn and grow. Assurance of safety liberates the imagination to flourish through play time. There’s no worry of where their food will come from or how the bills will be paid.

Everything is just there—the roof and bed and meals and clothes. Children are provided for, protected and unconditionally accepted. In a word, they are loved. The most essential element which that love produces is a child’s trust in their parents.

Love from a wise, powerful and wealthy Father is the ideal field in which to nurture the growth of souls. As children of God, redeemed through faith in Christ Jesus, we have that perfect culture from which to thrive and mature. We’re engulfed in the fertile environment of His awesome love.

Nothing on earth or in heaven—no creature great or small can separate us from God’s mighty love. We are freed from worry to focus on God’s perfecting work of making us Christ-like.
But sometimes we don’t have the faith to let go of worry over the uncertainties in life. Which will always stunt our progress in becoming all that God has designed us to be. We need to trust our Heavenly Father. Surrendering our lives to Christ means our complete dependence on Him for all things, while stepping out in faith and obedience. If we are going to obey, then we must first trust.

“Trust and obey, for there’s no other way,
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”
