RELY ON GOD’S LOVE– by Stephanie M. White

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16 NIV

God’s love for us is reliable. We can depend on His love. His love for us is steadfast. It is trustworthy; it is certain.

There are times when we forget this fact and we begin to transfer our dependence elsewhere. As we take the focus off of God’s love for us, we place ourselves in a precarious place. Only the love of God can keep us stable and fixed.

David was dependent upon God’s love for him (Psalms 109:21, 26-27). David was not confused about the fact that God forgave him completely and had good plans for him.
God’s love for us is what sent Christ to the cross. This love has paid the price for all of our sins. No longer do we have to be dealt with based on our sins; we are forgiven in Christ and we can depend on the goodness of His love.

The love of God has also secured our life here on earth. He has prepared a good plan for each one of us and He has given us His Word so that we could experience that plan.

David was well aware of God’s love for him and he was also attentive to the fact that this love was meant to be declared. David did not desire credit for what God had done in his life. “Let them know that it was Your hand,” David stated boldly as he thought of God’s goodness. As we continue in the Word we will also shout along with David, “My God is good!”
