Encourage and support new Christian authors by reading great Christian books for FREE and writing a brief review.

This is one of over 40 Great Christian books you can read for free in exchange for a simple review. New Books come into the program on a regular basis.

If you are looking for good reading material for your children, especially for children you read bed time stories to, "The Stone Writer" by Toni Babcock is a nice collection of quaint stories ideally suited to tucking in elementary school aged children. Each story is one a child can relate to and there is always a moral to the story, most of which obviously embrace Christian beliefs, though sometimes it is subtle. "The Gospel According to a Pirate" is excellently done, and was my favorite. For older children, "Shadow Man" has a great lesson on dealing with difficult choices.

The Truth About Birds - by Jennifer Winters

"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13 (HCSB)

The baby bird lay frail in the fresh green of spring grass. New skin, veined, and barely feathered, the animal cries pitifully for its mother. Small feet ventured too close to the nest edge and new life now cry empty of hope. Stuck in a place that is not home, the only way for it to survive is to return it to its nest, but when I was young, I was taught never to touch baby birds. One graze of child-chubby fingers would mark the animal. Traced by the outside, the baby bird would be rejected.

Years later I learned the truth about birds:

Baby birds returned to their nests are truly welcomed home. Their mothers do not notice lingering scents on small wings and will continue to fill them until they are ready to fly.

For years I also believed that I had fallen too far from my Father’s nest. I had been scarred by the world and the lingering traces of my past would forever keep me from being welcomed home.

Then I found my truth written in red:

“I assure you: Anyone who hears my word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life.”- John 5:24 (HCSB)

All I ever had to do was believe in God’s all encompassing forgiveness through His son, Jesus Christ, and ask to be lifted home. Truth accepted, all traces of the world fell away and the Father helped me fly again.
