One Little Lost Lamb - by Denise Ferrell

What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? Luke 15:4 (KJV)

The Hoppers, a Southern Gospel singing group, recorded a song a few years ago with lyrics about “one little lost lamb.” It told how the Lord left the other ninety-nine in the fold to go out and search for one little lost lamb.

We have all heard how sheep know the sound of their shepherd’s voice. Sheep are also known to have poor eyesight, but excellent hearing. We don’t have to see Jesus with our physical eyes in order to believe He is the Messiah. But we do have to listen for His voice. The Bible tells us faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Whether you read the Bible, listen to a preacher share the Word, or hear His message in a gospel song, you can hear God speak to you.

The song by the Hoppers indicates how the believer will proclaim on Resurrection Day, “Lord, here I am.” Will you be there on Resurrection Day? If you have believed that Jesus died, was buried, and resurrected as payment for your sins, and you have claimed this gift of salvation He offers, then you will be there. You will be able to proclaim that you, too, are that one little lost lamb, and say to Him, “Lord, here I am!”
