Today's Devotional
Adopted by Him - by Karen White

Recently, on a social media site I saw pictures of three children holding up signs. The first sign stated that they had been foster children for several years. The next sign announced that they had been adopted. The smiles on the children faces gave testimony to their happiness of being part of a family.

Each of us as Christians could display similar signs. The day we accepted the Lord as our Savior we were adopted into God’s family. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God,” John 1: 12a NKJV

Can I get an AMEN! We were adopted by God to be His children. Unlike biological parents who have the right to disinherit their children, we have the assurance that no one can remove us as children of God. We are His for all eternity. Nothing we do can take away our status as His child. We can remove ourselves from His fellowship through sin. But even then we are still His children, and when we confess and turn from our sin He is faithful to forgive and our relationship is restored.

Personally, I would not want to belong to someone who could cast me aside at any moment upon a whim. My Father, however has assured me in verse after verse that once I am His child it is for always and forever. What a blessing it is to have the assurance of salvation and the freedom to live my life as a child of God serving in His kingdom. As Christians, our faces should mimic the smiles of the children in the picture, giving testimony to our joy at being a part of His family.

Dear Lord, thank You for accepting me as Your child. In Jesus’s name, amen.
