Today's Devotional
O Christmas Tree! - Karen Pourbabaee

“…at the center of the garden He placed the Tree of Life…” Genesis 2:9 NASB

It was Pope John Paul II who stated in 2004 that the Christmas tree is a reminder to all Christians of the Tree of Life in Genesis, an image of Christ who is the supreme gift of God to humanity.  The modern Christmas tree developed during the Renaissance in early modern Germany. Today the tree is called Weinachtsbaum or Christbaum. Predecessors of the holiday tree date to the 16th century in which devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes. Initially, they were decorated with apples, nuts, and other foods. It is said Martin Luther was the first to add lighted candles to the Christmas tree, later being replaced by the electrical lights of today. At the top of the tree was usually found an angel, representing the Archangel Gabriel, or a star, indicating the Star of Bethlehem. But the tree itself, the fragrant evergreen, as well as wreaths and garlands, symbolized eternal life. And its triangular shape? It forever reminds humanity of the Trinity and points us to heaven.

Before the nightly unplugging of your Christmas tree, pause a few moments and let your spirit  be directed toward heaven. Look a moment; be reminded of the Trinity. Linger a moment longer. May the twinkling star-lights, or the tree-topped star, lead your heart to Jesus, just as it led the wise men to Him. Pray a little prayer of welcome to the babe of Christmas. Have you lingered long enough to inhale the scent of evergreen? May it speak to your heart of the gift of eternal life, for the Father has given you a living Christmas Tree, Jesus Christ our Lord!

An in-depth study of the factual evidence leads a person to realize how little faith they need to believe, while they gain great faith at the same time.

Recent Amazon Review:

"For anyone on the fence, backsliding, or doubtful this book clarifies misunderstandings, perceived contradictions, and outright lies. I was led to read this book at a time when I thought I was over Jesus; but truth defeats lies every time and never forsakes the believer." 2-18-17
