"They overcame him (the devil) by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony, Rev. 12: 11 (KJV).How important is it to speak words that testify to my faith? Reading Romans 10:8-10, I see that it is very important. With the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. I used to think that meant a one-time statement that I believe Jesus is the Son of God, confess my sins, and give Him my life. I have since learned that salvation is an ongoing process. How I speak every day is very important to overcome the enemy and enjoy salvation's blessings.
Doesn't God hear unspoken prayers from our heart? Yes (Jn. 11: 42). However, the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God, a weapon to defeat the enemy, like Jesus did when He said, "It is written." The Word does not become a sword until it is spoken from the mouth out of a heart of faith (Eph. 6: 17; Mark 11: 23-24; Rev. 19: 15). No speaking authority over the darkness, no victory. No attending to God's word, no faith (Ro. 10: 17). No seeking first the Kingdom of God, no finding Kingdom manifestations. No resisting the devil, no devil fleeing from me.
Father, I choose to fill my spirit with spiritual food, which is Your Word, every day. I approach the throne of grace with my praises and petitions. I resist the enemy who tries to steal kingdom blessings from me, by commanding him to leave in the Name above all Names, Jesus. Then having done all, I stand (Eph. 6: 13) with patience in the hope of Your every promise which is yea and amen. Praise be to God. I'm not defeated!
