Resurrection Words - Karen Pourbabaee

“Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid…” Mathew 28:10 NAB

The resplendent light of dawn was scattered throughout the garden on Easter morning, but the Light of the world soon arrived in response to the appearance of Mary Magdalene. Jesus had just been through the excruciating experience at Calvary and literally spent a day in hell, but His first resurrection words were “Do not be afraid.” He had conquered all; we were not to fear. Mary was to carry that message to the rest of Jesus’ disciples, becoming an eternal message for us all. No doubt, Jesus wanted us to live fearlessly.

Spread throughout the Old and New Testaments are these same words and sentiments. Review Deuteronomy 31:6, Joshua 1:9, I Chronicles 28:20, and Isaiah 41:10,13 for encouragement in fearless living. In the New Testament, consider Mathew 14:27 and John 14:27, to name just a few fear-stopping words.

“Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ John 20:21 These resurrection words were spoken to the disciples gathered behind locked doors on Easter evening. He knew they would need His peace to carry on. So do we.

“And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Mathew 28:20 From Genesis to Revelation, God lets us know He is not some far-off distant deity, but an ever-close, loving, and personal God. In the moments before His earthly departure, Jesus also assures us He will be ever-close. His resurrection words echo through time. Listen: Do not be afraid. Peace be with you. I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.

Recent Amazon Review:

"For anyone on the fence, backsliding, or doubtful this book clarifies misunderstandings, perceived contradictions, and outright lies. I was led to read this book at a time when I thought I was over Jesus; but truth defeats lies every time and never forsakes the believer." 2-18-17
