Even if I Lose…. – Emmanuella Ellis

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord.” (Jeremiah 17:7 NASB)

The lyrics of the song, “I will Follow,” by Chris Tomlin always gets me thinking. When my mind is set on winning, this being defined by success in everything I'm determined to do, as well as how good and beautiful my life is, frustration can quickly set in when things fall out of place. The world practically expects that kind of success, and therefore I yearn and push very hard for it. Success doesn’t seem to come my way, and the pieces don’t seem to fit.

I sometimes sit back and ask, “If I don’t win, will I still follow? Even if I lose out on so many things that I think I should have and it looks like I keep losing, will I still follow? When it is undesirably tough and unbearable, and others seem to be winning, will I still follow the One I call God, Redeemer, Deliverer, and Saviour? When the unthinkable things beyond understanding keep happening, will I still follow? "

My answer is "Yes I will because my life belongs to God and whatever HE does is good by HIS judgment. Therefore, if I seem to be losing, it's only based on the judgment of the world." Even if it seems that I am losing, HE is winning. I can’t just put my trust in HIM for a moment; I need to KEEP it in HIM for eternity.

Emmanuella has the desire to reach out to others using understanding gained through Scripture. She is currently in the graduate program at McGill University. Contact

Recent Amazon Review:

"For anyone on the fence, backsliding, or doubtful this book clarifies misunderstandings, perceived contradictions, and outright lies. I was led to read this book at a time when I thought I was over Jesus; but truth defeats lies every time and never forsakes the believer." 2-18-17
