Our ‘present time’ Advocate is the long-awaited Messiah. Advent season begins on November 27th and ends on December 24th for Western Christianity. Advent is a time of preparation, reflection, prayer, fasting and coming together. During this time, we celebrate the One who is and always will be our lasting peace and rest.
Today, demonstrations and contentious turmoil in the world seeks to take away the peace God brought forth with the birth of His Son. We can overcome this unrest and remain steadfast in His promised peace by making a personal commitment this Advent season, a commitment to a never-ending quest to know Jesus more intimately.
Purpose daily to reach up to Him in prayer; learn to lean on Him more, and less on self. This will increase our faith as His peace overcomes worldly unrest.
“I bid every one among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgement, each according to the measure of faith which God has assigned him.” Romans 12: 3b [RSV]
Cry out in prayer to “Abba Father”, trusting Jesus our Advocate as He intercedes on our behalf.
“Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:27 NKJV
