Revival, Hallelujah!: From the Shoulder
Paul Juby

Out of the blue I started writing poems. Not beautiful ones, not pretty ones, but all with solid messages of hope and direction. These are messages from the shoulder to church leaders and passive Christians and poems to show the way to all seekers. These poems can be read to congregations to stir them into action. These poems can be read in the quiet at home. Almost all bring revival to the fore. Messages are aimed at the heart of every person.

Stressed Out – Katy Foster

I chuckled hearing my nine-year-old sing a song about being stressed out. The words repeated. She resounded on, singing about missing “the good ‘ol days.” Ha! How many “good ‘ol days” can a nine-year-old really have?

Yet, have you ever noticed that when we think back in the past, whether it be missing the past or regretting it, our stress in the present moment increases? If we miss the past, then we may be discontent with today. If we regret the past, it may pull us back from moving forward. Therefore, either way, we’re left stressful! In Philippians 3:13 NKJV, we’re guided to “forget those things which are behind and reach forward to those things which are ahead,” and to “run in such a way that you may obtain [the prize]” (1 Corinthians 9:24 NKJV). This prize being the kingdom of God, the one cure for stress. The kingdom of God is given to believers in Jesus Christ, and we are to seek it first. Focusing on anything else invites a plunge of unnecessary stress.

Even if a lengthy “to-do” list weighs on your mind at this present moment, then answer Jesus’ question: “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” (Matthew 6:27 NKJV).

Dear Heavenly Father, our stress feels heavy, but in Jesus’ name, help us remember how light it truly is as we rest and surrender in Your mighty hands. Today may we rest our thoughts on Your loving words in Romans 5:5: “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” In Jesus’ name, Amen!
