Earth’s Dappled Light - Karen Pourbabaee
“…come, let us walk in the light of the Lord. “ Isaiah 2:5 NAB
The dappled light of morning glory spread across the forested land. Warming sunlight penetrating through the verdant leafy trees cast oases of light before me. Childhood antics came to mind. Jump over the sidewalk cracks to avoid bad luck. Don’t touch the floor as you leap from chair to sofa, or you will succumb to hot lava or quicksand. Instinct beckoned me to hop from one spot of light to another, avoiding the shadowy darkness. God whispered: There is still light to be found. Even in the midst of darkness.
Lest we despair and walk away into that darkness, we must remember His light is all around us. It may be filtered through the stuff of life, but it penetrates and remains visible. Though darkness may be trying to envelop us, we must spot His light and run to it. Leap over the darkness of the world. Do not let it direct your path away from the Lord, but allow His light to shine upon your way and draw you closer to Him. Step into the light and, “…walk in the light as He is in the light…” (1 John 1:7)
Until that day when we shall see Him in the dazzling light of His glory, let us walk in earth’s dappled light, ever seeking Him, shunning the darkness of the evil one. “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” (Ephesians 5:8). Spread the Light that triumphantly lives within you. Expand the oases of Light as you walk. Share your faith in word and deed. Pray for His Church. Don’t shirk the battle as a part of His army. Remember always, the true Light has conquered the darkness forevermore. The gates of hell shall not prevail against us! Amen.
