Today's Devotional
SERVING THE LORD
Deepika Emmanuel Sagar

In flesh, we all get depressed, distressed, and it's then that we get the healing and uplifting in the presence of the LORD.

King Herod beheaded John the Baptist, and when this news reached Jesus, he withdrew from the crowd (Matthew 14:13) to a solitary place. Losing our dear ones makes us sad; when unexpected things happen, we feel depressed. But if we read the Word further, it says that Jesus, although He wanted to be in solitude, healed the sick. We may have difficulties, concerns, and worries of our own, but the Word teaches us to remain in Him and serve His ministry diligently.

When it was evening, the disciples asked Jesus if they could send the crowd home (Matthew 14:15), but Jesus did not leave the crowd uncatered He could have sent those people away as healing was done, but he did not do so. He not only catered to their spiritual wellbeing (as he responded to their faith of being healed) but also to their physical needs. Despite his emotional condition, Jesus did not stop from doing the LORD’s work. He was agile and ready to serve.

As servants of God, we might feel weary and low about our situations and not be able to find the right mindset to work, but God helps when we seek Him. He gives us the strength to serve His ministry, despite the troubles we are facing. This is the strength of being under grace; for when we are weak, then we are strong (2 Corinthians12:9). When we are blessed under this grace, it lets service become a blessing. When we place all that we have and all that we are in His hands, then our abilities are increased to serve His purpose. All things are possible with God (Mark 10:27).
