The Warning - Ken Ebright
"In various places, there will be great earthquakes, sicknesses, and a lack of food. Fearful events and great signs will come from heaven. Luke 21:11" (NCV)
When I was a kid, I would watch my favorite program on Channel Four in Minneapolis. I remember times when the image of a scary-looking cloud formation would appear on the television. Keyed over the picture were the words: Tornado Warning Includes the Twin Cities. Whenever this warning appeared on the screen, it deeply frightened me. It had the same effect in my mom's car when I would hear the warning tones on the radio followed by another warning sign. "The national weather service has issued a tornado warning." These warnings cautioned us to pay attention, to prepare to take action.
In Luke 21, were told what will happen just before Jesus returns. It speaks of warning signs: great earthquakes, sicknesses, a lack of food, fearful events, and great signs. Could the worldwide coronavirus pandemic be one of the signs to get our life right with God, preparing for his soon return? Are you right with God?
God hates sin, but He loves us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to die for our sins and rise for our justification. He did that so we could spend eternity with Him in heaven and then one day on a renewed earth. Jesus warns us multiple times that a rejection of God's saving grace will separate us from God into the lake of fire. We choose life or death, heaven for eternity, or the lake of fire for eternity. God’s desire is that none be lost and that all choose life over death. But we must choose.
None of us know how long we will live or when Jesus will return. Don't wait any longer; choose to believe the gospel and be saved. Cry out to Jesus in faith today before time runs out.
