Reaching a Genuine and Just End – Toni Babcock
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23 CSB).
One of the most disingenuous, deceitful and dark methods employed as a tool of propaganda, is to parse and frame a narrative that blames the opposition for doing exactly what the propagandist is shamelessly doing, all the while maintaining a virtuous air of self-righteousness.
You see it all the time in politics, when people are blinded to their own sins but have a laser focus on their opponent’s guilt (real or perceived), and if a nagging consciousness does bring to light a certain awareness of the hypocrisy this creates, they become “masters of the switcheroo” immediately setting to work to parse and frame a narrative which proves it’s the other person or group that needs to “get fixed” - not them.
Folks, we are all accountable to each other and ultimately to God as we pursue healing and restorative justice in our land. The fact is, because we “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” we all need to “get fixed” in one way or another. But if we’re not honest about our own sins and shortcomings, if we refuse to stop virtue-signaling and playing switcheroo on our opponents— if we can’t own the truth as it applies to us and not just “the other”, the result is going to be a fake and unjust attempt at reaching a genuine and just end.
