Big Flood Big Faith: Noah's Flood and Earth's Extreme Makeover
Terrence Hatch

Was Noah's flood caused by a cosmic collision in Earth's recent past? Clues emerge from mountains, oceans, and legends. As an engineer, the author builds a case for the reality of the world's greatest natural disaster, and the faithfulness of a man named Noah who heard and obeyed God.

Today's Devotional
Another Advocate by Susan Barnes

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever." John 14:16

Different translations of the Bible use various words to translate the word 'advocate' including comforter, helper and friend. The Greek word means comfort, encourage or defend. It contains the thought of coming alongside and helping.

Jesus didn't say, I will send you a sergeant major to discipline you, or a policeman to keep you in line, or a theological professor to make sure that your doctrine is 100% accurate, or a judge to mete out punishment when you get off track. No, Jesus knew our greatest need was to be helped and encouraged.

Jesus goes on to explain that the Holy Spirit will teach us (v. 26). I guess we all have experienced poor teachers, but the Holy Spirit is not like them. His teaching is based on truth and his methods are based on encouragement. He is a teacher who is on our side.

We are also told the Holy Spirit will remind us (v. 26). God knows how forgetful we are. We not only forget what the Bible teaches, but we even forget the ways God has already worked in our lives and answered our prayers. The Holy Spirit seeks to bring these things to our remembrance and so build our trust in God.

The Holy Spirit wants to help us. Let's reach out and receive his help.

FaithWriters are Fulfilling The Great Commission Together!

As we help you become the writer God has called you to be, you help us spread the gospel in over 230 countries online. Here is a quote from a reader who accepted Jesus on FaithWriters. His life will never be the same because one writer “put pen to paper” and shared it.

‘I literally was transformed and totally healed in an instant upon trusting in Jesus as my lord and savior. The love, joy, light, and peace I feel is way more than words or thoughts can express. This new life of being a true Christian, who is saved, Spirit-filled, born-again, fully and truly converted by the living holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, is going to carry my being further than anyone could ever imagine. It will be the most blessed, rewarding, and holy life in the Lord, which I have embarked upon now.’” Roger P.
