On occasion, we've all heard someone say, "I don't care what they think of me," or "My life is my own," or "What I do doesn't affect anyone else." Should we be concerned with what others think of us? Are others affected by what we say or do? Although our worth should not be dependent on the opinions of others, it is important that we be aware of how our decisions and behavior affect those around us.
As a Christian, we are portraying Christ to a lost and dying world. Someone is always watching. The choices we make form our lifestyle, and that lifestyle is our witness. What we do, or fail to do, and how we do it, influences our witness for the Lord. As a Christian, we represent Christ. If our conduct betrays His truth, we dishonor Him and hurt those around us.
While we sojourn here, we will never make the right decision every time. But if we ask God to place His desires in our hearts, it will be easier. We are weak, but He is strong.
Prayer: Lord, give me the strength to live in a way that honors You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
