Harvest Time
Karen Pourbabaee

"A man will always reap just the kind of crop he sows." Galatians 6:7 Living Bible

The crispness in the air tells us fall is here. A sign of hope that harvest is nearing. Where I grew up in south Louisiana that meant following slow moving trucks hauling the sugarcane harvest to the mills. I certainly never expected anything but sugarcane to sprout from the endless rows of soil on my grandfather's sugarcane farm. God brought the rains to water the seed and sunshine to spur the growth. I still recall my father cutting down and peeling a few sugarcane stalks during harvest time for me and my siblings; we chewed on the pulp, extracting the sweet juice. We tasted the goodness of the harvest and saw His faithfulness in the seasonal ebb and flow of planting and harvest.

Paul was teaching the church in Galatians the path to goodness in life. Our work is to sow good seed. God asks us to plant it and remain faithful. What kind of seed?

"The sower sows the word." Mark 4:14 NAS

The Word of God is an imperishable seed that we can sow in good faith. (1 Peter 1:23) It cannot be destroyed and will produce a good harvest in our lives. We reap what we sow…the harvest of His word , our prayers, kindness, love, compassion…every goodness imaginable is a seed to be planted.

"…let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary." Galatians 6:9

The harvest comes in God's time. Don't give up. Keep the faith and taste the goodness of the harvest!

FaithWriters are Fulfilling The Great Commission Together!

As we help you become the writer God has called you to be, you help us spread the gospel in over 230 countries online. Here is a quote from a reader who accepted Jesus on FaithWriters. His life will never be the same because one writer “put pen to paper” and shared it.

‘I literally was transformed and totally healed in an instant upon trusting in Jesus as my lord and savior. The love, joy, light, and peace I feel is way more than words or thoughts can express. This new life of being a true Christian, who is saved, Spirit-filled, born-again, fully and truly converted by the living holy gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, is going to carry my being further than anyone could ever imagine. It will be the most blessed, rewarding, and holy life in the Lord, which I have embarked upon now.’” Roger P.
