JESUS said "cheer up" because He was teaching His disciples to rely on Him rather than to put their trust in the ways of this world. "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus....."Philippians 4:7 NIV
When I was pregnant with my second child; my only daughter, I had an abruption in my sixth month and she was born at 29 weeks. She weighed only a little more than two pounds. I prayed from the ambulance ride till she arrived. She ended up doing quite well and even amazed the doctors when she didn't need oxygen, like most premature babies do. I knew God was with me throughout that whole ordeal and I felt nothing but peace.
I find that whenever I lean on my faith; God gives me the idea, brings back to my remembrance anything pertinent to the situation and/or puts the right people in the right place and time. Not only that, when He takes me through hard things; I understand His ways better and become closer to Him. Whenever I recall those times God has stepped in and enhanced my life in some way; joy immediately follows!
"No, in all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us...." Romans 8:37. PRAISE GOD.
PRAYER: Lord, in You I already have the victory before I even have the problem! Remind me not to obsess, but rather give my troubles to You. Thank You that You are here for me in all things. Help me to depend on Your joy to cheer me when this world oppresses me.... in Jesus name...Amen.
