“Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you go through various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete.” James 1:2-4 NAB
Passing the test is not just getting through the immediate crisis. Yes, your faith is tested in those moments, but the process is just beginning. Don’t breathe a sigh of relief just yet. God knew what was coming—He allowed it. He has an assignment for you, for the Lord is trying to perfect and complete you in this season. Don’t close your spiritual eyes and ears until you walk through the process, the spiritual journey marked for you. You might call it the recovery or rehabilitation phase. God calls it sanctification.
Why did this happen to me? You must contemplate this. First of all, the Lord uses hardships and uncertainty to draw you closer to Him. The greatest gift of your challenge is your friendship with God is deepened and your faith is strengthened. Are you passing this test?
Secondly, troubles should spur you on to re-examine your life. Trials are meant to be a catalyst for change. James says you must persevere, so God can complete you. There’s a purpose behind the pain. God works all things for your good. (Romans 8:28) Are you willing to take the rest of the test?
If your trials are ordained to change you, there are important questions to ask yourself. Stop and listen for God’s answers. They will guide you in the recovery phase as you cooperate with His plan.
What do You want me to do with the renewed life You have given me, Lord? What do You want me to learn? What do I need to change in myself? What do You want me to give back to others in return for Your love and care for me? How might I be a blessing to others? The answers and implementation become part of passing the test also. God’s project isn’t complete. Persevere until God says Amen, it is done.

The steps to share your faith without fear – no confrontation. Pray and then get them alone.
Ask these five questions to help discover their personal spiritual condition.
Do you have any kind of spiritual belief?
To you, who is Jesus?
Do you think there is a heaven and a hell?
If you died right now, where would you go?
If what you believe were not true, would you want to know it?
Listen to their answers in a calm and open way. You are asking their permission to share Christ with the last question. If they say no, you can drop it – no confrontation. You have still done the work of Christ and offered the truth.
Here are a series of five Bible verses to ask the lost person to read aloud if you have their permission. Let them read them and remain silent. After each verse they read, ask them what it says to them. If they misunderstand, ask them to read it again until they admit the truth in the verse.

Then ask them a series of five questions that summarizes the truth of the verses and lead the lost person to the point of decision.
Are you a sinner?
Do you want forgiveness for your sins?
Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for you and rose again?
Are you willing to surrender yourself to Christ?
Are you ready to invite Jesus into your heart and into your life?
Lead them in the Sinner's Prayer if they are ready to make a decision. Stay in touch and get them discipled or connect them with a local fellowship or small group for future growth.
