“…Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will show to you this day…” Exodus 14:13a (KJV)
Picture in your mind a small child crying hysterically from a tiny wound. A nearly invisible shard of glass, a sliver of wood, or a thorn from a thistle has pierced a little hand or foot. The young one finds it nearly impossible to quit crying and obey the adult command to “Stand still so I can pull it out!” The child’s impulse is to run away from the scary tweezers; to kick, scream, flail, flop on the floor – anything but ‘stand still,’ but stand still he must, and endure the painful extraction in order to avoid further suffering and pain. At least the child knew there was a real problem embedded in the flesh and came to the right place for help.
We need to come to the right place too, because what we have embedded in the flesh is worse than a sliver. What we suffer from is an invisible thorn – a stubborn sin nature embedded in the flesh, and if anything is going to save us from that, we have to “stand still and see the salvation of the LORD.” Like a helpless child, we need to heed the voice of our heavenly Father, recognizing we cannot save ourselves. Like the little ones with their eyes on a loving parent, we need to ‘stand still’ and submit to God’s remedy in Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17 (KJV)

The steps to share your faith without fear – no confrontation. Pray and then get them alone.
Ask these five questions to help discover their personal spiritual condition.
Do you have any kind of spiritual belief?
To you, who is Jesus?
Do you think there is a heaven and a hell?
If you died right now, where would you go?
If what you believe were not true, would you want to know it?
Listen to their answers in a calm and open way. You are asking their permission to share Christ with the last question. If they say no, you can drop it – no confrontation. You have still done the work of Christ and offered the truth.
Here are a series of five Bible verses to ask the lost person to read aloud if you have their permission. Let them read them and remain silent. After each verse they read, ask them what it says to them. If they misunderstand, ask them to read it again until they admit the truth in the verse.

Then ask them a series of five questions that summarizes the truth of the verses and lead the lost person to the point of decision.
Are you a sinner?
Do you want forgiveness for your sins?
Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for you and rose again?
Are you willing to surrender yourself to Christ?
Are you ready to invite Jesus into your heart and into your life?
Lead them in the Sinner's Prayer if they are ready to make a decision. Stay in touch and get them discipled or connect them with a local fellowship or small group for future growth.
