| | | Finding God’s Wisdom Is Finding Life Robert Schaetzle
“For he who finds me (wisdom) finds life and obtains favor from the Lord.” Proverbs 8:35 RSV
Proverbs chapter eight is the best personification of God’s power and wisdom of all thirty one chapters of Proverbs. It’s a challenge chapter in becoming a ‘doer of God’s word,’ as instructed from James’ epistle. In it you will find the value that God’s wisdom brings, plus an understanding of why it becomes important to be a doer of God’s word for living.
When the Tower of Babel was built, God said, “Behold they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; and nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.” Genesis 11:6 RSV.
Consider what all mankind has done over time through the resources of the human mind. It really is a wonder. With all our technology advances in computer science and artificial intelligence, we recognize what God proclaimed back in Genesis eleven. Yet, God’s power and wisdom is far greater! Do you ever stop to ask… “How did God create the world and universe we live in?” Here wisdom speaks:
“The Lord created me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding with water… When he established the heavens, I was there, when he drew a circle on the face of the deep, when he made firm the skies above, when he established the fountains of the deep, when he assigned to the sea its limit, so that the waters might not transgress his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth.” (Proverbs 8:22-24 & 27-29 RSV).
“The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; by his knowledge the deeps broke forth, and the clouds drop down the dew.” (Proverbs 3:19-20 RSV.)
Father, Your wisdom and preeminence is priceless, greater than all mankind will ever know. Strip away any double mindedness in my mind and heart so that I can hear wisdom speak and act accordingly. Help me to walk in your wisdom all my days. Amen. |

The steps to share your faith without fear – no confrontation. Pray and then get them alone.
Ask these five questions to help discover their personal spiritual condition.
Do you have any kind of spiritual belief?
To you, who is Jesus?
Do you think there is a heaven and a hell?
If you died right now, where would you go?
If what you believe were not true, would you want to know it?
Listen to their answers in a calm and open way. You are asking their permission to share Christ with the last question. If they say no, you can drop it – no confrontation. You have still done the work of Christ and offered the truth.
Here are a series of five Bible verses to ask the lost person to read aloud if you have their permission. Let them read them and remain silent. After each verse they read, ask them what it says to them. If they misunderstand, ask them to read it again until they admit the truth in the verse.

if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.… Romans 10:9-10 BSB
Then ask them a series of five questions that summarizes the truth of the verses and lead the lost person to the point of decision.
Are you a sinner?
Do you want forgiveness for your sins?
Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for you and rose again?
Are you willing to surrender yourself to Christ?
Are you ready to invite Jesus into your heart and into your life?
Lead them in the Sinner's Prayer if they are ready to make a decision. Stay in touch and get them discipled or connect them with a local fellowship or small group for future growth.
