Subject: Wine of the Day ~ WA 91 pts at $15!

This impressive new domaine is owned by Hermitage Emperor Michel Chapoutier. This rich and robust red is made from a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Each of the three varieties are hand harvested to insure precise and consistent ripeness. The wine exhibits the distinctive pepper and spice of Syrah, but is bigger and rounder in the mouth, with great complexity coming from the Carignan and Grenache. Here is a Rhone producer getting the best out of the terroir in Lanquedoc...a superb combination and true bargain!
2013 Domaine de Bila Haut
Vignes de Bila Haut

Languedoc Roussillon, France

91 Points Wine Advocate
“In bottle, the 2013 Vignes de Bila Haut checks in as a blend of 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 20% Carignan, from a combination of schist and limestone soils, that spent 12 months in a combination of concrete and stainless-steel tanks. It has great aromatics of dark berry fruits, bouquet garni, pepper and lots of minerality, medium+-bodied richness and depth, and a soft, seamless and even elegant fell on the palate. It’s ready to go now, and will drink nicely for 4-5 years.” Jeb Dunnuck
