Subject: ☀"Switzerland's Romanee Conti"☀

To the Wonderful World of Bordeaux!
“Consider yourself an insider to even hear about this wine and ‘lottery winning lucky’ to get your hands on a bottle,” writes one reviewer. “Hard to find...but highly recommended if you want to taste Switzerland’s Romanée Conti.”

*****

The Gantenbein vineyards are located in the upper Rhine valley in eastern Switzerland, one of the most breathtaking places in the world. Close to the foothills of the Alps is the winery, considered a marvel of design ingenuity and mechanical precision — the brick wall catches the light to form optical effects inside while also filtering the light for constant temperature control.

Daniel and Marta Gantenbein do all of the vineyard and cellar work themselves, by hand. Most of the vineyards are planted densely with Pinot Noir clones from Burgundy. The wine is fermented in custom-built, open-top wood tanks, typically with 20% whole clusters, and bottled after 12 to 14 months in barrique, without filtration or fining. In a good vintage average production is about 1,000 cases, of which only 25 cases will come to the United States.

"Martha and Daniel Gantenbein's 2015 Pinot Noir offers a delicate, ripe and toasty bouquet of red fruits. Silky, fresh and pure on the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense and juicy Pinot Noir with fine tannins, gorgeous freshness and salinity on the finish. The tannins are silky, fresh, firm, really stimulating and cleansing. This 2015 is still terribly young but has tension, grip and a stunning kick. Excellent aging potential." — 93 Points, Wine Advocate
