Subject: ✹Rocca di Montegrossi ~ Benchmark Chianti Classico!✹

“Despite being located in one of the very best areas in Chianti Classico & boasting a superb track record, Rocca di Montegrossi remains one of the most under-the-radar estates in Chianti Classico, and Italy, for that matter. Proprietor Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi crafts deep, powerful wines that capture the essence of Monti, a sub-zone of Gaiole that has long been prized for the personality & pedigree of its reds. The estate’s Chianti Classico is often one of the best wines in its class.” — Antonio Galloni, Vinous
2015 Rocca di Montegrossi Chianti Classico
$264 case
Rocca di Montegrossi’s Chianti Classico is a blend of about 90% Sangiovese, with Canaiolo and Colorino. It ages mainly in large casks and barrels made with Allier oak for 12-14 months. It is unfiltered, and after bottling it ages another 6 months prior to release.

90 Points Wine Spectator “A smoky note runs through this intense, powerful red, along with tar, leather, black cherry and iron flavors. Dense and juicy, with a long, vibrant aftertaste echoing tar and fruit elements. Best from 2018 through 2026. 4,160 cases made.”
