For more than 160 years, Antica Casa Scarpa has been an instrumental part of the viticultural landscape in Piemonte. In addition to establishing some of the great Cru vineyards in the Monferrato and being one of the first producers to make great, age-worthy Barbera, Scarpa was also one of the first producers to bottle and label Barolo and were among the founders of the Barolo and Barbaresco Consorzio.

The wines are fermented in large, old truncated conical wooden vats and aged in 3 to 12 year-old botti for 3-4 years and further aged in bottle until release. It’s important to note that Scarpa does not top up the bottles, rather they do a rigorous inspection of each bottle to ensure that the fills are correct and that the wine’s color and cork are in proper condition.
