Subject: From the Screaming Eagle guys, without breaking the bank!

"This remarkable Santa Ynez estate is under the same ownership as Napa Valley’s Screaming Eagle winery. This is one of California’s most exciting new wineries. What they are accomplishing with Bordeaux varietals is mind-boggling."

"Both the 2012s and 2013s from Jonata are superb, and this team excelled with both the Bordeaux and Rhone varieties. The Todos is becoming more and more Syrah dominated and certainly is not far behind in terms of quality and is much (well, a little) more approachable on release. In short, you can’t go wrong at this estate and these are brilliant wines that check in near the top of the Santa Barbara hierarchy. Hat's off to winemaker Matt Dees and the rest of the team."

2012 Jonata La Sangre de Jonata
$924 6pack
97 Points Wine Advocate "Reminding me of a top Hermitage, the 2012 La Sangre de Jonata checks in as a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier that's aged primarily in neutral and larger oak barrels. It's flat-out gorgeous in 2012 and gives up tons of black raspberry, crushed violets, cracked pepper and hints of game. Full-bodied, seamless, silky and fabulously pure, it has good acidity and fine tannin that come through on the finish. Give it a few years and enjoy bottles through 2032."

2012 Jonata Fenix
$570 6pack
95+ Points Wine Advocate "There are roughly 200 cases of the sensational 2012 Fenix. A blend of 69% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc and the balance Petit Verdot, it reveals a Bordeaux-like perfume of black cherries, plums, tobacco leaf, leather and damp soil. Full-bodied, supple and more elegant than powerful, it still has terrific density and length on the palate, with ample sweet tannin. I'd happily drink it today, but savvy readers would ideally give it 2-4 years of bottle age and drink bottles through 2032."

2012 Jonata Todos Proprietary Red Wine
$384 6pack
93 Points Wine Advocate  "A great wine, the 2012 Todos Proprietary Red Wine offers terrific notes of black and red raspberry fruits, toasted bread and spice. As it sat in the glass, more classic Syrah olive, bacon and a touch of violet all developed. Medium to full-bodied, juicy, mouthfilling and loaded with sweet fruit, it doesn't skimp on structure and will have at least a decade of longevity. Think of this as a mini-La Sangre. The blend here is 75% Syrah with 7% each of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance a mix of varieties."
