What is important to you these days?
I ask because I'm curious!
And because I want to let you know what's important to me these days.
Creating and building new programs to offer you
Connecting with clients, students, colleagues, friends, and family
Being with my cats, with my sweetie, and walking in nature
Editing my novel (5th in my sci-fi mystery series)
A few things about the business --
I've been serving writers for over 20 years as a teacher, editor, coach & consultant, workshop facilitator, and book producer.
And I've spoken at writing conferences across the US, in Europe, and the Middle East.
I've taught everything from how to plan a novel, editing techniques, marketing and publishing how-to's.
Over the years, I've helped both nonfiction and fiction writers and now I specialize in helping science fiction and fantasy authors, since that's what I'm working on and am the most passionate about.
My favorite role with writers in as a coach and advisor.
It can be challenging, describing how I work with people.
How can I truly describe the experience of deep listening, taking in the whole person, noticing all the puzzle pieces of their lives, including their goals, challenges, and blind spots?
And helping them find clarity, peace, and a way forward that excites them.
Coaching is difficult to describe on the best of days, but when you combine that with the delicate, sensitive act of building a creative business, this is where coaching really shines.
When you learn to launch a business as a creative person, it is not only about numbers and systems and ABCs.
It is also about feelings and intuition and paying attention to the artist within.
My biggest question for about the last 10 years is how can I approach my business with the same trust and connection to the Muse I have when I work on my fiction.
I've developed a strong relationship of trust with my creative writing process.
I wondered: why can't I develop that kind of relationship with how I approach and run my business? And how I make business decisions?
These questions and others like it have been part of an ongoing inquiry I've had for the last 10+ years.
I've come to some answers!
And the biggest answer is that I don't build a book alone and I certainly haven't been able to build a business by myself.
I've always had teachers of one kind or another, and over the years, I've built quite a community of fellow writing teachers, coaches, and editors.
So, now I'm ready to bring my know-how and coaching stance to helping you build a business to help writers -- if that's for you.
But not alone! (No more solo projects for me!)
I'm bringing along my friend, fellow novelist, and book coach apprentice, who I've been helping (quite successfully) build her business helping writers: Gala Russ.
Gala is an experienced teacher, writer, and project manager. And she's eager to bring her own know how to helping others build their creative business helping writers.
Curious?
There are 2 things you can do (choose 1 or more):
Thing 3: Optional - Forward this email with a friend who wants to start their business helping writers, because now's the time. It's their life to decide. And it would bring them great satisfaction to be doing what they love.
If you're excited to join this apprenticeship program (many a little trepidatious too -- that's totally normal), book a Next Step call with me so I can help you get clear that this is best fit for you.
I'll ask lots of questions and explore your creative business idea!
