Why Writers Make More Progress Together

Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026

Hi Friend,

"Whatever the problem, community is the answer."

❤️

One thing I've noticed about how to keep writing and publishing is that I need a writing group and publishing community.

I need people with whom I can talk about craft, and also people who are actively publishing.

Sometimes that's the same group, sometimes it's been separate groups.

Scientists have shown that humans accelerate in their learning when they get together with others who are doing the same practice and with lots of repetitions.

So if you want to get better with writing, do writing more often.

If you want to get better at publishing, publish more often.

If you want to get better at marketing, set up marketing activities more often.

Humans are social creatures.

We learn best in groups, but sometimes we don't want to do a big group.

I've always been in both big groups and small groups to help me improve in anything I wanted to learn.

What do you want to learn or get better at?

Find a group for that.

Do you need help with that?

Let me know. I'm just an email away.

Next, check out our upcoming Writing Momentum Circle and see if that's right for you.

Writing Momentum Circle, a paid peer-led accountability group by Iman Llompart

We're sharing this with my list first! You get first dibs!

Are you actively writing, revising, rebuilding, or returning to a science fiction, fantasy, or speculative-fiction project?

Making steady progress can be difficult when you’re working alone.

I’d love to invite you to check out the Writing Momentum Circle, a four-month small-group program facilitated by romantasy writer and teacher, Iman Llompart.

The group will start Oct. 24th and run for 16 weeks, meeting each Saturday for 90 minutes on Zoom.

Sessions will move between conversations about:

  • the writing process,

  • collaborative story brainstorming,

  • focused manuscript work,

  • and writing momentum.

You'll have a supportive place to explore possibilities rather than being told how your story "should" be written.

The group is limited to six writers so everyone can participate thoughtfully.

This is a writing momentum and facilitation program—not a developmental editing service, critique group, or advanced craft course.

This is a group for focusing on your creative writing, being accountable to each other and your writing, and addressing issues that may come up.

If you're serious about making space for your fiction over the next four months, this circle may be a good fit for you.

Enrollment opens October 6.

We're accepting only 6 people.

Happy Writing!

Best,

Beth
