The Spiritual Life of a Fiction Writer by Beth Barany

May 25, 2018
Oakland, CA

Hi Friend,
The first version of my business fifteen years ago was called Fiction Smithy and the first class I try to sell and teach was called "Intuitive Creative Writing."

I wasn't able to sell that class. Instead, I kept plugging along at my business and at my writing.

Fast forward to this year... I was faced with the question of what mark did I want to leave on the world.

I've already been working steadily for years now, on my fiction; writing fiction powers me and all I do, makes me happy. But as a writing teacher and coach, I realized I hadn't really put my stake in the ground.

My father passed away this January at 75 years old, after a several year illness. And I realized a few things.

Life is short.

The time is now to do what is truly important to each of us.

Mine is through writing and story and teaching and walking in relationship with my creative self.

To that end, I'm working a book on the spiritual life of a fiction writer. Not in any particular order. You can read my work-in-progress here on my blog -- in this list post.

I’m writing this book to explore the inner life of being a writer. I hope that it will help you.
